How Lost Got Lost, the new book by John Rasor (that's me), takes a light-hearted but serious look back at the landmark TV show Lost . The End is considered by many to be one of the most disappointing series finales in the long history of television. I gotta say, it left me cold.
My book examines why the show's ending didn't measure up to the fans' expectations by not clearing up many of the mysteries, as well as falling flat story-wise in the final episode.
How Lost Got Lost also examines every aspect of the show's intricate storyline concerning the fantasy, sci-fi and spiritual aspects as it dissects the shows entire six year run. It also examines how the writers - who did so well for five years - took a wrong turn in the final season; it seemed awkward and rushed, and ended up with an irrelevant sideways flash/ purgatory story arc that imagined where we may go when we die - instead of sticking to the story and delivering a relevant ending to this epic TV show.
The book also provides an alternate ending from what the Lost writers gave us - which was there all the time. I just brought out for all to see how most of us thought the series should have ended.
The book has been officially published as of just past midnight on August 12, 2010. I hope it causes a stir in the Lost community, as Lost is not dead yet, and will remain in the public eye for some time to come. The factions both for and against the finale are split about 50-50, and probably won't change much. So, as my dedication to all Lost fans says - Be Thee Wi' Me, or Agin' Me...Forever Lost...
